Kim
grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a child, she watched
Peggy Fleming win her 1968 Olympic Gold Medal and decided then that
she wanted to be a figure skater so she begged her Mom for lessons.
Kim
was a principal performer in various ice shows in the United States
and Canada and was a member of Ice Capades. In 1997, she and
her husband, Gray, were the Silver Pair Medalists of the American
Open Pro Championships.
Kim
has her USFSA Gold Medal in Figures and in Freestyle and Pre-Gold
in Dance. She is a member of the United States Figure Skating
Association (USFS), the Ice Skating Institute (ISI), where she is
a Gold Certified Judge, and the Professional Skaters Association
(PSA). She is Master rated in Pairs, Master rated in Sports Science
and Medicine, Senior rated in Freestyle, and Senior rated in Field
Moves. She has been teaching for 23 years and was coach to
the youngest skater to pass ISI Freestyle 9 & 10.
Kim
is also the proud mother of twelve-old Bobby, who also is a figure
skater and winner of several ISI and USFS medals, and was a 2006
Jr. National competitor.
Snow
skiing is her favorite activity away from the rink.
Kim
says, "I love the line and artistry of
figure skating. It's incredibly rewarding to coach young athletes
and help in their growth and development as they become the adults
of tomorrow."
