Gray Johnson

Gray was born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina.  He grew up at a ski resort and started skating at the early age of 6.  A man of many accomplishments, he has managed ice arenas since 1990, performed as a principal performer in various ice shows across the United States and Mexico, was selected to rewrite the ISI Competition and Test Manual for Pairs, and holds a state board refrigeration license, to name a few.

He has been coaching for the last 13 years and holds the distinction of having caoched the youngest skater to pass the ISI Freestyle 9 & 10 tests.  He is motivated by the athleticism and biomechanics of figure skating and the development of young skaters physical as well as mental growth.

Gray is a member of the Professional Skaters Association since 1997, is Master rated in Freestyle, Master rated in Sports Science and Medicine, Senior rated in Pairs, and Certified rated in Moves in the Field.  He has been a member of the United States Figure Skating Association since 1992, a member of the ISI since 1995, and is a Gold Certified Judge.

In 1997, he and his partner were the 1997 American Open Silver Pair Medalists.
